In dealing with historical facts, as in this case, it is a must to consult sources because they give us different details than what is only superficially narrated. For example, as in the history treated here, we ask: Who are the accusers? Who is judging and who is being judged? It has not always been possible for us to know. Some fon¬ti are silent, some place the responsibility on fascism, others on anti-fascism. This discordance is in itself significant of a rather complex reality that stimulates us, more and more, to pay the utmost attention when we consult any source in understanding which side they are on: whether, as is often the case, they wanted to offer us an already pre-constituted image to probably defend certain interests.

At the beginning of the 20th century and precisely in 1921 when the PNF party (Partito Nazionale Fascista), better known as the Fascist Party, took over the leadership of the government of the Kingdom of Italy, it undertook to solve the difficulties inherited from previous governments.
The “Fascist regime,” particularly authoritarian and at times impetuous, in truth solved them not always with the truncheon or with “the eight million bayonets” with which, it declared from the balconies of power, they were sufficient to be able to win wars.
On the contrary, in many cases, he resorted to common sense and the principles of the “good family man” and the rules of “Good Government.”
Even so, there was no lack of episodes that exalted the gratuitous servility of the “bureaucrat on duty” to the regime in order to curry some favor.
This happened in Savoia di Lucania, in the province of Potenza and in so many other places where someone exercised and abused the “power of the black shirt,” the uniform in general or, as usual, from the more generic and arrogant power that politics delivers to the “useful cretin” who decorates himself with the trappings of the “efficient bureaucrat.”
